Lithuania's Foreign Minister Landsbergis is attending NATO Summit in Madrid
On 29-30 June in Spain, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Gabrielius Landsbergis, along with Heads of State and Government from NATO's member countries and key partners, will attend the Madrid Summit.
Allies will discuss a response to the threat posed by Russia and strengthening support for Ukraine. Heads of State and Government will agree to reinforce deterrence and defence, and will enhance NATO's battlegroups in the eastern part of the Alliance up to brigade-levels. The Summit will also adopt new packages of support for Georgia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Moldova, Mauritania and Tunisia, and will aim to make progress on Finland and Sweden’s historic applications for NATO membership. In addition, the participants will discuss threats from the south.
Finally, NATO Leaders will endorse the new Strategic Concept, which will assess a changed security environment and will set out NATO's joint positions, including on Russia and emerging challenges, such as China.
Separate meetings of foreign and defence ministers will also take place in Madrid.
