Application process and time frame

Applicants are requested to fix an appointment with the Embassy not less than 14 days prior to the intended travel date, but not more than 6 months in advance.

The Embassy requires at least fifteen (15) days to process your visa application. In some cases, however, we might need more time (up to 45 days) due to the necessary involvement of Lithuanian and/or Schengen authorities. Therefore it is highly reccomended to apply for a visa at least 6 weeks prior to your intended date of departure. Time frame exceptions are made for members of official delegations, family members of EEA/EU citizens.

Once application is addmited, an applicant will be contacted with the information on when he/she can come to collect his/her passport from the VFS visa center.

Urgent visa requests:

  • Only visa requests with a high Lithuanian interest can expect a positive answer for an urgent treatment (political or urgent business issues). Requests must be submitted to the Embassy by e-mail consul.egypt@mfa.lt
  • Family members of the EEA/EU citizens will be given urgent appointments.

Visa application fee:

  • The fee for visa processing is Euro 90, for children from 6-12 years Euro 45. The fee can be paid only in Euro (if paid at the Embassy), only the exact amount is accepted.
  • Family members of EU or EEA citizens, students and teachers (accompanying a group of students) in the context of a study or training tour, holders of diplomatic and service passports is free of charge.
  • Please note that visa application fee will not be refunded in case of refusal or withdrawal.

Please observe

  • The submission of the above mentioned documents does not guarantee the issue of a visa. Submission of an incomplete set of documentation or refusal to attend the mandatory visa interview will lead to a reject of your visa application. There is no legal right to a visa.
  • False statements or attempts to provide the Embassy with fraudulent documents results in the rejection of the visa application.
  • Please note that the Embassy reserves the right to ask for additional documents in single cases.
  • Once a visa has been issued, the purpose of the trip may not be altered.
  • Holders of Schengen visas are still subjects to immigration controls and are not guaranteed entry into any of the Schengen countries.

A valid visa does not guarantee that a person can enter the Schengen area. The border control authorities will check everyone at the point of entry. Entrance may be denied. The original Travel Insurance Certificate must be shown to passport control when entering the Schengen area. You have to prove that you have money for your journey (Euro 50) for each day spent in Lithuania. You should also carry documents showing the purpose of your visit.
