Africa – EU Energy partnership forum

On November 9, Charge d’affaires of the Embassy of Lithuania in Egypt, Dr. Rimvydas K. Kriukelis, has attended Africa – EU Energy partnership forum “AEEP Energy Business Dialogue Egypt - Joining forces: Private Sector Engagement in an Energy Secure Future”. 

Expanding energy cooperation between North African countries and Europe is of key importance to increase energy security on both continents. Main goals of the forum were to discuss the engagement of the private sector in the development of the energy sector and energy security, investment opportunities in the renewable energy and energy efficiency sector, cross-border electricity market initiates and outlook and financial tools in the energy sector.  

The forum provided a platform for North African, especially Egyptian, stakeholders from the private sector, public sector, academia and civil society to discuss, share experiences and knowledge. Search for priority areas of intervention to address the energy security issues that North Africa, and in particular Egypt, faces.
