EU FILM CLUB IN JUNE AND JULY IN ALEXANDRIA

Eu Film Club - it is a joint European cultural  event which presents a various selection of contemporary European films and aims to show both the common features and the striking diversity of the present European movies. The event  lasted from 3rd of May till 31st of May 2009 in Cairo. The Eu film Club was launched at the Embassy of the Czech Republic and  thereafter was shifted to the premises of the French Cultural Center, Hungarian Cultural Institute, Goethe-Institute and the Italian Cultural Institute. Lithuania was participating in the event with Inesa Kurklietyte's movie "Crow Lake" which already got many international awards, among them the Best Director Award in the International Olympia Film Festival in Greece 2007. As EU Film Club received many positive opinions it is going to be presented in Alexandria as well. Movies will be shown in 2009 June 7-25 in French Cultural Centre and in 2009 June 29 - July 10 in Goethe Institute.

Crow Lake - it is a story about the first childish sin: the first attempt to defeat the enemy, to walk a forbidden road and to revenge. In Crow Lake, four boys find shelter from the rules imposed by adults in a derelict ex-Soviet military base located beside a NATO airfield. The children proclaim the territory their "Freedom Zone". Meanwhile,  an odd vagabond seeks shelter in no-man's-land as weel. A "territorial war" is declared and the ensuing conflict reveals the children's differing  characters and callings.
