The new official website, eu2013.lt, dedicated to the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, is now operational. According to Julius Pranevičius, Head of the European Union Council Presidency Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs: “In developing the website, we wanted to include both attractive design and functionality, and in that we have relied on the experience of past presidencies of the Council of the EU. We expect that journalists, civil servants and anyone interested in the presidency will find latest, immediate and useful information on the website that will answer all the questions.”The website will post news and press releases, topical articles presenting issues about the presidency agenda of most interest, as well as key events. Website visitors will find the latest information regarding meetings in the course of the presidency in Lithuania and Brussels, including the programs for such meetings.Top-level meetings hosted in Lithuania will appear as live broadcasts on the website; subsequently, the videos will appear in a dedicated gallery. The gallery will also present short videos introducing the activity of the Council, the legislative process of the European Union, and allow for virtual visits to where key meetings in Vilnius will be hosted; the gallery will also introduce the public to members of the presidency team.The section on the Presidency and the EU will introduce the program and priorities of the Lithuanian presidency of the Council of the EU, present the presidency logo and symbols, and provide information about the presidency budget and sponsors, as well as the key cultural projects presenting Lithuania in Europe and globally.The section dedicated to Lithuania includes photos and graphic images, accompanying some key facts about national history, culture, sports, science and economics, tourism, as well as a brief guide for visitors to the country. Representatives of the media can find information on the website concerning the operation of press centres, accreditation, and services provided by the official broadcaster and photographer.If visitors can’t find the answers they’re looking for about the presidency of the Council of the EU on the website, they can ask questions and be answered by the presidency team.
