LITHUANIAN PRESIDENT MET WITH THE MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS OF UAE

On Wednesday, 18th of June Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaitė met with the Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation in international organizations. According to the President, enhanced economic ties with one of the world's richest nations, United Arab Emirates, will open new opportunities for Lithuanian business and people. The President highlighted the promotion of investment, exports of food products, and modern technologies as particularly perspective spheres of cooperation. It is therefore crucial to seek completion of negotiations and signature of bilateral agreements for the protection of investment and avoidance of double taxation which will facilitate bilateral trade relations and business contacts.

Among the other points of discussion at the meeting were opportunities to collaborate in research and student exchange areas, the security situation in Ukraine, and developments in the Middle East.
