LITHUANIAN PRESIDENT RECEIVED LETTERS OF CREDENCE FROM THE AMBASSADOR OF THE UNITED ARAB EMIRATES
On Monday, March 3, President Dalia Grybauskaitė accepted letters of credence from the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Juma Mubarak Al-Junaibi. The meeting focused on the Lithuania-UAE cooperation, promotion of legal relations by signing bilateral agreements, prospects for developing economic ties, and collaboration in multilateral forums. The President and the Ambassador discussed the strengthening of bilateral relations and cooperation. Among the other issues addressed at the meeting were the promotion and protection of investments, the avoidance of double taxation, negotiations for the mutual recognition and exchange of driving licenses. Collaboration in the sphere of student exchange was also discussed at the meeting.
Dalia Grybauskaitė and Juma Mubarak Al-Junaibi highlighted good cooperation between Lithuania and the United Arab Emirates within multilateral forums. Lithuania and the UAE hold the same position on many international issues.
Diplomatic relations between Lithuania and the United Arab Emirates were established on 16 October 1992. According to the President, bilateral contacts would grow even stronger after setting up the UAE embassy in Lithuania.
Juma Mubarak Al-Junaibi (53) is the United Arab Emirates' second ambassador to Lithuania, residing in Berlin. The Ambassador graduated from the University of Florida with a diploma in civil engineering, also obtained a master's degree at Pennsylvania Military College. Earlier he served in the UAE military forces, was director general of the Abu Dhabi municipality, Secretary of State at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, since 2012 - the UAE ambassador to Germany.
