THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF LITHUANIA RECEIVED LETTERS OF CREDENCE FROM EGYPTIAN AMBASSADOR
On Monday, February 24, President of the Republic of Lihtuania Dalia Grybauskaitė accepted letters of credence from Egypt's Ambassador Salwa Moufid Kamel Magarious. The President and the Ambassador discussed the strengthening of bilateral relations and cooperation in economic and tourism spheres. Other points of discussion included the situation in Egypt and Egypt-EU relationship.
According to the President, the European Union supports Egypt's aspirations to move along the path of democracy. The EU welcomes a new Egyptian constitution and the decision to hold new presidential and parliamentary elections.
President Grybauskaitė noted that it was essential to ensure free democratic elections securing equal opportunities to all candidates.
The diplomat, born in 1959, holds a diploma in political science. In the course of her diplomatic career she was ambassador to the Philippines. Last year, Salwa Moufid Kamel Magarious was appointed Egypt's ambassador to Denmark and resides in Copenhagen.
