Updated rules for legalization at the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania

The Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania to the Arab Republic of Egypt, to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, to the Republic of Lebanon, and to the league of Arab States (hereinafter referred to as the Embassy in Egypt) accepts from 20th of January 2025 legalized documents issued in Egypt, Lebanon, Jordan and other foreign countries, guided by the following principles and criteria:

1. The Embassy in Egypt accepts legalized documents issued by states in which the embassy resides (Egypt) and is accredited (Lebanon and Jordan) and legalized by the competent authorities of these states;
2. Documents issued by states to which the Embassy in Egypt is not accredited and with which the Republic of Lithuania has established diplomatic relations (https://www.urm.lt/en/foreign-policy/lithuania-in-the-region-and-the-world/bilateral-cooperation/1030) shall, also be accepted at the Embassy in Egypt, provided that the following criteria are met:

• the foreign national providing the document is legally resident in Egypt (not less than 6 months) and in the states of accreditation of the Embassy in Egypt;
• a citizen of a foreign country personally submits documents for himself or his family members (husband, wife, parents, children and adopted children);
• the document provided was additionally legalized at the diplomatic mission of the country that issued the document, which operates in Egypt.

3. We accept for legalization and documents issued by foreign representations operating in Egypt;
4. If the documents submitted to the Embassy in Egypt do not meet the above criteria, they shall not be accepted. Such documents must be submitted for legalization directly to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania, in accordance with the procedure established by it – https://keliauk.urm.lt/en/consular-services/legalisation or diplomatic missions of the Republic of Lithuania, where these criteria would be met. Please note that documents issued in Egypt and legalized by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, if these documents will be submitted for the legalization to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania, must be additionally legalized beforehand at the Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Copenhagen (Denmark) https://keliauk.urm.lt/en/embassies-foreign-information-en/28

5. A foreign national submitting documents must register in advance for a visit to the Embassy in Egypt (or register his representative https://keliauk.urm.lt/consult_registration) and only after receiving a positive confirmation can he come to the Embassy in Egypt;
6. During one visit, you can submit up to 5 of your personal documents or up to 3 documents of other persons.

7. The Police Clearance Certificate for foreign citizens who intend to study in Lithuania is received for legalizaition directly from the educational institution at the MFA of the Republic of Lithuania. In this case, the student should contact the educational institution in Lithuania, in which they plan to study, and to clarify the process of legalization of documents.
